COVID-19 Election Politics Think Trump

Trump and Matters Of National Faith

This will contain mentions of Donald Trump. I am very cognizant that this is a psychological trigger for some people. I wanted to let you know that I would mention his name, policies, and recent events concerning COVID-19.

I haven’t written much in a long time now. Much longer than I usually go for, to be honest. It isn’t that I had nothing to say or that people didn’t care about what I had to say; it was simply that I had to focus on the internals of my family and mind and leave the communication of those things be for a time until things settled. If not settled, they have become manageable to a point where it is viable to do this again. There will not be writing on a schedule, nor will I try to hit a goal each day or week. I will write until I don’t want to anymore and then, should I want to again, well, I know where the keyboard to my computer is.

Unbelievably, I just watched Donald Trump not only photo-op his premature return to the White House for the national news media. I then watched him re-frame it to get a better shot of his abject stupidity sealed into the eternity of posterity. Sadly, like the puppies rushing to the food bowl, I also watched the media allow him to do this thing instead of cutting away and talking about the hundreds of thousands of people who have died because this man didn’t want to look like what he always will be, stupid.

I am not a scientist. Nor will I will not try to pretend I am one, or even that I play one on television. I am a person who has at least a small chunk of common sense left to me. If I was sick, with a virus that has infected, at this point, at minimum, a full three percentage points of the population I govern, I am going to do maybe everything I can to ensure those people that they should trust the medical personnel and scientists who are quite literally dying trying to get ahead of this thing and prevent a plague of medieval proportions from occurring in the modern era.

No. No, he has, at every conceivable opportunity, countermined some of the leading experts on the planet on a subject he knows nothing about because his ego is so fragile as to be terrifying to the average person. You would think that a person who lies so substantially as Trump does on a nearly minute-by-minute basis would be able to take an opportunity and support the scientists, knowing that it would make him look glorious and raise his ever vital approval and television ratings.

I will not sit and tell you that he is an evil man purely because I have done far too many things in my life to throw stones whilst living in a glasshouse. However, I will tell you that this man who calls himself the leader of our country has stolen, lied, cheated, and allowed hundreds of thousands of the citizens he is supposed to be a servant of die because he has an ego that will not allow anything to allow him to believe that he can be wrong.

The religious leaders, of varying faiths I may add that support this man with a fervor that they haven’t used on the pulpit since the last time they had a visit from television cameras make me believe that no matter what happens in this or the next ten elections, we will be a country that strangles itself slowly to death on a chain of dogma that we have allowed to be wrapped about our necks with the lie that it was always supposed to be there, that it is what the “founding fathers intended.”

I don’t know how many of you have read even cursory history books about this republic’s founding. Still, they were not particularly interested in a theocratic ruling system, to say the absolute list. To those who go a little further back and say the Mayflower passengers were seeking religious liberty, I ask you to read the assorted pieces written by passengers of that ship that say the only reason they landed where they did is that they were out of beer. Don’t even get me started because they left Holland because it was too hard to earn an easy living.

The American identity is all a rooted lie so deep that it will never be possible to take it all apart. Plymouth Rock and Pilgrims, Thanksgiving and “Indians,” God Fearing Framers of the Constitution and heroes as corrupt as the mortal men that they both were and were surrounded by.

So as we near November’s general election, I ask you to remember Thomas Jefferson:

“The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”

Don’t let them tell you that God is a dog in this fight. Please don’t believe that very sharp and pointed lie even as they ram it down your throat.

Vote Donald Trump out of office. Vote for freedom.
